1-Increase Protein and Collagen Intake

Hair follicles are made up of protein. Increasing protein intake in your diet will help promote hair growth. At the same time, not getting enough protein may contribute to hair loss.

Collagen is another great way to improve hair health and we actually have a collagen protein! What?! You can take both collagen and protein at the same time which will help your overall health along with hair growth.

2- Fish Oil

Omega-3 fats are one of the top supplements for hair growth because they nourish the hair and promote hair thickening. They help prevent hair loss.

3- Don’t wash your hair everyday

Yes, you heard us right. Washing your hair is good, but doing it too often strips the hair of it’s natural oils. Because of this, the body starts producing more oils to keep up with the ones being washed away. This is why you get “greasy” hair. So slowly switch to every other day and then even longer after that. It will take some time to transition over so use some dry shampoo and stick with it! It will get better and you won’t be required to wash your “greasy” hair everyday anymore.

4- Get a trim

Most people think “I’m growing my hair out so I’m not going to cut it at all until it’s at the length I want it to be.” That’s a great idea, if it actually works. People also say “My hair won’t grow. It’s been stuck in the same place forever.” Most of the time when people say this they have roots or regrowth from their last color. This means their hair IS growing. Why is it the same length then? Because our ends get very unhealthy due to heat, pony tails, weather, health, etc. so they start to break off. The hair is growing but the ends are breaking causing the hair to stay at the same length. So get a trim often! Cut off those unhealthy ends so the hair can continue to grow and you can see progress.

5-Use Heat Protectors

Women tend to use a lot of heat on their hair. If you choose to use heat, don’t ever go above 400 degrees. Keep the heat low! I know it’s tempting to raise the temperature for faster results but it’s unhealthy for the hair. Use a heat protector product to help as a barrier between the heat and your hair. Do as much as you can with a blow dryer. This is less heat to the hair because it is not in direct contact with hot metal plates.

6-Ponytails

Switch up your ponytail placement. Wear your ponytail in different places to prevent any tension and “breakage” from the tension of the elastic. Use scrunchies that also put less tension on the hair.

7-Hair Loss

Hair loss is normal. You should expect to loose hair in the shower and when you brush your hair. You want to make sure that you are loosing full hair strands and the hair isn’t breaking. If it is full hair strands, that’s fine! Your hair is just going through the hair growth cycle. If you are seeing broken ends, then you may need a trim or some other hair care products. If you are experiencing too much hair loss then seek out your medical provider. There are some other things that can contribute and some blood work that can be done.

8-Nutrition

Your nutrition is very important for your hair growth. You have to give your body the right building blocks to create hair and increase growth. The best way is to eat a lot of whole foods and high protein. A lot of us have a hard time getting ALL our nutrients from food so if that is the case, then we use supplements.
